Hi Joan
I have already been in contacted with you some months ago about surprising my long time partner and marrying her at the 2010 Sturgis rally. I just recently have seen on your website that you have a prize going for a relationship story.
I'm not usually into telling our life story but I will tell it to show how much I appreciate my partner. My name is Craig and my partners name is Jodie and we are Australians that live in West Aust. I met Jodie 26 years ago one week before I flew out to London (UK) to meet up with a girl friend I had been going out with in Australia.
The long and short of it is that relationship never went anywhere and after 7 months of travelling around Europe I flew home to Australia. Amazingly I ran into Jodie the first day I was home and basically we have been together for 25 years since. Things have not been too easy for Jodie as I am a merchant seaman and go to sea for 35 days then I am home for 35 days. This was OK to start with as Jodie was 23 when we had our first child and she was a beautiful little girl we named Alysha.
Two years later we had twin boys named Matthew and Nathon, Matthew was born a healthy baby and now is 6ft tall and just turned 21, however Nathon was born with Cerebral Palsy and has epilepsy and Glaucoma, so Jodie was dealing with 3 children in nappies by her self most of the time. As the children grew up the hospital became our second home with Nathon's numerous stays when he was younger every time he caught a cold it went to his chest and he would end up back in hospital. He had 2 operations on his hips and 2 on his eyes; thank god he is a tough happy kid. He has taught us a few lessons over the years
We have always wanted to get married and spend the rest of our lives together the last 25 yrs have gone so fast there was always something else happening. We would love our children and family and friends around us on our special wedding day but seeing that we are coming to the rally I am going to surprise Jodie buy marring her there. My daughter has said to me you should marry mum in Vegas by an Elvis impersonator. So when they find out I think everyone will say it’s about time.
We own a Harley that we get out on most weekends and have a ball so it will be nice to start riding some distances. We are picking up a hire Harley in Vegas and will be riding up to Sturgis for 18 days then back home to Oz.
Even though we are looking forward to our trip it never leaves our mind that while we are away Nathon could get sick and end up in hospital as he will be staying with his carer he has never been away from his mum for this long.
So Joan that is a short story our lives so far and looking forward to going to Sturgis and spending the rest of our days together.
